## How I build

### 1. Fundamentals before rewrites

An image service rendered HTML in headless Chrome and needed 10 servers to keep up. No rewrite: I split the work across browser tabs behind a bounded promise pool, so Node's thread pool could finally use every core.

**Result:** 400 → 100 min per 100K images · 10 servers → 1 · 16 → 6 GB RAM

### 2. Question the requirement

A zip step pinned an 8-core machine at 95% CPU. Before tuning anything, I asked the team downstream. They unzipped everything on arrival, so file size never mattered. Switching LZMA2 for Deflate traded size nobody needed for CPU we did.

**Result:** ~80% less CPU · 2× concurrent jobs

### 3. Reliability is the product

In Pagewala the model talks, but the server decides. Prices come from the database, stock moves in a transaction, and three layers stop duplicate orders. An AI that sells has to be boring where money is involved.
